time off is making me nervous. there is just too much time to think!

i decided to take some time off after the marathon before the training for ironman begins.  it's really weird though because i know forced time off before the start of your basemile training is important, but it's sort of driving me crazy.  i just don't know what to do with myself with all the spare time!  i think not working out is way harder than working out.  here's why
  1. my house is really cold and pg&e isn't coming to turn on the pilot for my heat until friday evening...hence, i don't want to go home after work because i need to bundle up so i end up sitting under the blankets in bed and watching TV
  2. i don't want to go to the mall because i'll end up spending too much money probably on dresses for me when i should be doing holiday shopping for other people
  3. going on the internet in the evenings is the one thing i try to avoid doing at all costs so that i can maintain some form of work/life balance...otherwise i'm tempted to start checking and responding to work email...that means shopping online is out of the question
  4. i'd be baking but that means i'd be eating a lot too. anyone want some baked goods?
  5. cleaning out the closets is an option, but i'm such a minimalist i don't think there is much to get rid of
  6. maybe doing some DIY home projects is in order...like seeking out cheapo porcelain figurines i can paint and make a display on my dresser...hmmmm.....but i'm so not nick-knacky
now that i'm thinking about all the things i don't want to be doing while i'm waiting for training to start up this weekend, i am spending too much time thinking about what training is going to be like.  OMG!

WHAT DID I SIGN UP FOR?!?

the next week should be exciting and i'm sure there will be some really funny stories coming out of my first swim practice.  here's what's in store:

  •  Saturday:  Team kick-off & information overload. Then going home to sign up for a bunch of events through out the road to the ironman...probably some half marathons, shorter distance tris, maybe a few time trial races
  • Sunday:  2000M swim followed by 40 minute run
  • Monday:  rest day - cook lunches/dinners for the week
  • Tuesday:  spin 45' & run 15'
  • Wednesday:  1500M swim
  • Thursday: run 4 miles
  • Friday: 1 hour + ride with some LT intervals followed by 10' run
why am i so nervous!?!  i've done the ride thing for years, i've been running a few months now...but this whole swimming thing...it's been awhile and i didn't master the freestyle at my classes at foothill college a few years back.
